Ice and Snow in the South

Most of my family is without power in Southern Indiana. My sister Glenda and family has been without power since 11:00 pm Tuesday night. My sister Janet and my parents have been without power since Wednesday morning. My brother Steve has power and Audrey's brother's family is staying there. Her brother has a baby less than a week old. No knows when they will get their power back.
Often when they get winter weather it is in the form of ice. They said that got 1inch of ice then came 5 inches of snow on top of that. There are many in worse shape than my family. I feel for people with health problems that depend on electricity. Then there are those who have lost loved ones because of the weather. Ice can be very beautiful on the trees but then it can be very deadly in the accidents it can cause.

It is nice to see it snowing here. Sounds bad to say that when maybe a few weeks ago I was complaining. Mainly complaining about the cold. I would like to see some fresh snow to cover up the dirty snow that is here.
Enough about the weather.........................................

Some of this and that................

I need to start posting more often instead of once a week. Of course you have to have something to post about. I just put down a few things that I've (or we) done since the last post.

- I made the best meatloaf that Dan has ever had. At least that is what he told me (smile) It was the first meatloaf that I've ever made. I have never been a big fan of meat loaf. I will have to admit this one was very tasty even being made with venison. I have a very funny memory about one of my Mom's meatloaf..................... I'll save it for another time.
- Joseph has started correcting me in regards to who he is. I asked him the other day if he was ticklish................ and he said "no, I'm Joseph Daniel Swonger."
- He is becoming more independent. He lets me know that he can do it. But............. he has no interest in the potty thing.
- He told me last week that Charles T and Gaylen are fragile. He got that word from Dan telling him to be easy on Mom because she is fragile.
- I know when these four walls start getting to him because he tell me we need to go to Walmart or Pick n Save.
- Joseph thinks that anything we get at the store is "on sale". Why? Maybe because we got him some clothes some time back and I told him they were on sale. He looks at the Sunday ads and says............ "look whats on sale".
- We didn't get to see the heart specialist last week but instead one of the PA. They have increased the blood pressure medicine again and I guess they will try doing that every two weeks. The PA said she will work on getting Dan in to see the doctor with in a month but he is booked through June. We got a note last week saying he has an appointment for July. The doctor is with UW, guess he is a good doc and busy.
- End of this week Gaylen and Darren (spelling?) head for LA and Charles V comes from GA. I've been trying to explain to Joseph this change that is going to happen. He has really taken a liking to Gaylen.

I took this picture yesterday morning at breakfast time. From the looks

of Josephs hair............... he must have had a wild night plus the winter
static look.

Joseph likes to use the little shopping cart at the grocery store. I think
this is probably the third or fourth time. The first time it seemed to
big for him but he does great with it now.

I know.................. probably most Moms don't take pictures of their
children at the grocery store. I thought the Grandmas might enjoy

seeing this.

Snow........Cold.......Snow........Freezing Cold...

Did you catch, by the title, that we have snow, and its cold, and we got more snow and it is freezing here. More than freezing........................ Tomorrow is to be colder. I keep telling myself that it is worse some where else. Dan is saying he is seriously thinking of a career change and maybe a climate change. With his heart making him so tired and his circulation most not be so good cause he can't seem to get warm. Now is probably not the best time to get new employment. I can think of some warmer climates that I would like to go to. (within the states)

I will just add some pictures from this past Sunday and a video from one of the snows.

Brian and Heather Boyle with Mason (Pete and Nicole son)
and Joseph. Mason turned 1 year old last week.

Ananth, Amoolya and Mason with their birthday cake. Amoolya got to blow out the candles.

Joseph with the Garner's rabbit. Actually it is Tristan's rabbit.

The hill isn't big at all but big enough for Joseph. It's from when they plow the drive and it made a nice hill for Joseph. As he is sliding down he is saying......... "look at that"

Yesterday

Yesterday we made our trip to Madison VA for Dan's appointment. We thought we were scheduled to see the heart specialist but instead saw one of the PA. So............ we were very disappointed since we were hoping to meet the doctor. Seems he is a very busy man and it may be a month before Dan can get in to see him. He works UW which is right next to the VA, most of the heart doctors work at UW. Any way Dan is to increase the blood pressure medicine this weekend and see how that goes. I'm not even going to try to explain what they hope to gain because I'm starting to get confused the more I think about it.
We went down to see Agnes in the nursing home in Horeb. She is 106 years old and does well. This time she couldn't remember Dan's name but she told him she knew his face. He told her she had a good excuse for not remembering.

Happy Birthday Eric

Happy Birthday to Eric Matthew Loesch!!! Can it really be 20 years ago? I can still remember coming up to the hospital to see you like it was just a few years ago. Of course at my age I should still remember a lot. I remember my first impression and what you Dad said. Hope your day is great and this year is a good one for you.
